BROMSGROVE Rovers Reserves began their 2004 campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Barwell.
Adam Marusiak in Rovers' goal was a spectator as Bromsgrove ran the Leicestershire side ragged and deservedly took the lead via Sean Maynard on the half-hour.
Marusiak kept the lead intact with a second half save but turned villain when he presented Barwell with an equaliser following a scuffed clearance.
That gave Barwell confidence and they went on to score a late winner and leave Rovers shell-shocked.
