YARDLEY and District made the noble effort to travel to Spring Lane but suffered a heavy defeat for their pains.

MALVERN U14S 49pts, YARDLEY & DISTRICT 7pts

Andy Tighe showed true spirit by volunteering to play for Y & D's, and scored the visitors only try.

Solid defence in all areas of Malvern's play prevented Yardley from mounting any effective attack. But it was in the forwards that Malvern undoubtedly impress-ed the most, dominating the scrummages on their own put-in, and against the head.

Despite conceding some unnecessary penalties during the second period of the match, Malvern's rucking showed improvement and the pack exerted their superiority with some very impressive mauling. Some of the squad found themselves playing in unfamiliar positions, but the result tells the story and everyone should be proud of their contribution.

Malvern RFC YDS are indebted to Paul Ferguson for turning out to referee the match after the appointed society referee failed to turn-up for the match. The final score 49-7 in favour of Malvern.
