THE Malvern U16 Touch Rugby team, the Malvern Flyers, recently made a trip to Welford Road, the home of Leicester Tigers.
The Flyers took part in the regional final of the Tigers Community Touch Rugby competition for £250 worth of Webb Ellis rugby equipment.
The final was played on the Welford Road pitch as a curtain-raiser to the Heineken Cup match between Leicester Tigers and Gwent Dragons and Malvern's opponents were a specialist all-adult touch team from Leicester.
The young Malvern team found it difficult to adjust to some of the games rules, which were rigorously enforced by the home side official and by half-time, the Flyers were behind by five ties to nil.
However, in the second-half the youngsters got into their stride and ended as winners of the second period by two tries to one, but losing 6-2 to their wily opponents.
