WORCESTER City manager John Barton has slapped Darren Middleton on the transfer list.
The forward is included in the squad for tomorrow's Dr Martens Premier Division clash at Newport County, but the St George's Lane boss is now prepared to listen to offers for the player.
Middleton, a former Aston Villa and Wolves trainee, has played 102 games for the club, scoring 31 goals and was top scorer last season with 18, but he has struggled to hit form this season and has just four goals.
With City labouring in mid-table and boasting just five wins in their last 16 games, Barton has decided to shake things up and more could follow Middleton out of the door.
City chairman Dave Boddy said: "In view of the inconsistencies of the season so far, John believes that he needs to make changes to the squad and this is the start of that."
Meanwhile, tomorrow's clash at Newport is set to go ahead, but further heavy rain overnight could jeopardise the fixture.
Adam Webster (calf) is poised to return if he suffers no reaction following training, while Jon Holloway will be on the bench but is expected to get a run-out in Monday's home Worcs Senior Cup clash with Redditch.
