SWIFTS 0, WORCESTER 3

MANAGER Dave Titterton must be grateful Stourport Swifts will not have to deal with too many players as good as Leon Kelly in the Dr Martens Western Division.

The striker gave the Stourport defence the run-around for 30 minutes on Monday before John Newall ended his game with a challenge that earned him a yellow card.

By this time, Kelly had scored twice, gone close to his hat-trick, and looked like tearing Titterton's side apart every time he was presented with the ball from midfield dynamos Adam Wilde and Darren Middleton.

Sloppy defending allowed him to open the scoring on three minutes as Wilde's quick free-kick caught the Swifts napping and Kelly side-footed into the empty net.

Adam Webster added a second on 12 minutes with a 30-yard drive which home keeper Lee Evans allowed to squeeze into the bottom corner.

And Kelly struck again five minutes later after a dazzling run down the wing by Wilde.

Another Kelly effort flew wide moments later before he was forced to sit out the final hour with a dead leg.

Swifts briefly threatened at the end of the half with Kerry Giddings seeing his shot deflected into the arms of City keeper Danny McDonnell.

Wilde's wizardry saw him go close on 50 minutes and then he set up former Kidderminster Harriers man Stewart Hadley five minutes later who just missed the target.

Mark Owen had a shot turned onto the bar and the closing seconds brought another chance for Worcester as Webster headed against the woodwork.

It was always going to be tough for a Swifts side lacking injured front men James Wood and Richard Ball.

But Titterton will be hoping for no more sightings of Leon Kelly between now and the end of the season.
