WORCESTER Wolves Basketball Club will be looking to revive their promotion challenge tonight as they go into a four-week break.

Wolves take on London United at University College Worcester (7pm), still smarting from last week's three-point defeat at Mansfield which cost them the chance to go joint top of the National League Division One.

They now share fourth place, while tonight's opponents are one of three teams in joint top spot.

Wolves player-coach Rick Solvason wants a big improvement from their display at Mansfield, which was a game they expected to win.

He said: "They are one of the better teams in the league, and we have to play 100 times better than we did up at Mansfield. We have to come out right from the jump ball with some passion about what we are doing.

"We never played well enough to deserve to win the game last week, although we fought back at the end and could have stolen it.

"The way we played against a team we should have been confident of beating was very frustrating."

But Solvason wants the Worcester crowd to play a big part once again in willing them to victory. "We have always done much better at home than we have on the road.

"We know the crowd will be good, and hopefully everybody will bring their game ready to go tonight."

Wolves have a full squad to choose from, but may make adjustments to their starting line-up.

Solvason added: "We haven't decided yet, but we may change it.

"We have got to do something to tweak it a little bit to get ourselves going."

After tonight Wolves do not play again until the home match with Hull on January 11, and Solvason says it will be a big psychological boost to his side if they can win.

He said: "To go into the break with a three-and-three record will be very disappointing. If we can go in four-and-two that will put us within striking distance of the top of the table, which is where we want to be."
