MALVERN Town visit Dudley Town tomorrow (Saturday) in the Express and Star West Midlands League Premier Division (2.45pm) and will be looking for another three points in an attempt to extend their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

Looking forward to Saturday's game Town general manager Richard Anson said: "Although we are barely halfway through our league programme, every game has a cup tie feel about it now and this will remain the case all time we head the table, but it is a nice position to be in and one we clearly want to maintain."

Anson also urges Town supporters to really help drive their championship challenge on.

"Our gates generally are up this year, but I still think we can attract more through the turnstiles home and away, Dudley is not that far away and Bromyard next week is only over the hill, so it would be great to see a few more at the away games as well as those at home."

Malvern still have one or two injury worries, with Craig Williams and Dean Roberts being manager Neil Hunt's major concern.

Both players were involved in last Saturday's victory over Heath Hayes, but were deliberately excluded from Tuesday night's 4-1 success against Alveston in the Smedley Crook Memorial Cup.

Hunt however is hopeful that the midweek rest will enable both players to take their place in Saturday's starting line up.

Definitely missing for Malvern will be defender Andy Chalmers, who is away on a short break, but returns for the midweek Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup tie against Bromsgrove Rovers in addition to striker Des Cox, who remains sidelined with a knee injury which is likely to keep him out for at least another two weeks.

Anson continued, "I know it is the oldest clich in the book, but we really are trying to take every game as it comes and rotating the squad a little or picking a side for a particular game doesn't really allow any player to become complacent.

"We don't necessarily concur with the view that you should never change a winning team, as that team might be not effective against certain opposition, suited to specific conditions or comfortable in a different formation.

"Certainly, the squad is big enough to enable us to change things if we need to and to cope with any injuries that are foisted upon us."

For Saturday's trip to Dudley, Hunt will select from: Moss, Roberts (P), Williams, Cannon, Clayton, Walker, Halion, Morris, Baldwin, Owen, Roberts (D), Willetts, Hooper, Haines, Smith, Thomas, Leighton and Fryer.

After Saturday's match, Adam Baldwin begins a seven-day suspension after receiving two yellow cards in the recent home victory over Bromyard.

Baldwin misses the Bromsgrove game and the following Saturday's trip to Bromyard.

Town play host to Bromsgrove Rovers on Tuesday (7.45pm), in the First Round of the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup.

It is not yet known what sort of side the Doc Martens League, Western Division high-flyers will be fielding, but whatever team they do put out, they are sure to give Town a good test.

The Town Reserves continued their recent good form, with an emphatic 6-1 Express and Star West Midlands League Division One (South) success at Reality Sports last Saturday.

The Town scorers were Barry Hughes (two), Rob Perrins, Lee Tomkins, Danny White and Ed Lyons.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the Reserves entertain neighbours Malvern Rangers in another league fixture (2.45pm).

The U18s were without a game last weekend, but were due to entertain Cinderford at the Langland Stadium last night (Thursday).

Next week, the Town youngsters were due at Pershore in the Midland Youth League, but owing to a first team fixture, the home side are asking Town if they can re schedule, possibly to Thursday.

A date has still to be confirmed.
