I READ the Evening News (Wednesday, December 3) regarding the flood barrier with interest but was shocked that £600,000 had been spent on it.
Surely an earth bund from Sabrina Bridge up to the field opposite the Crown and Anchor Pub would have done the trick and been a lot cheaper?
Lorries with top soil to dump would have been glad to help out, I'm sure. Quite a few people have said an earth bund would be a better way to control the river.
The bund could be levelled and planted with low-growing shrubs so as not to spoil the view of the river. It could also be used as a grandstand to see the various events that take place on the river.
