THE ESO is to embark on its traditional Christmas performances of Handel's Messiah.
The first of the candle-lit concerts begins tomorrow (Saturday) at St Mary's Church, Tetbury.
The orchestra will be at Cirencester Parish Church on Tuesday, Tewkesbury Abbey on Wednesday, Wyastone Concert Hall, near Monmouth, on Sunday and Pershore Abbey on Monday, December 22. The series finishes at the Malvern Theatres on December 23.
Musical director William Boughton said: "It's very special with the candles lighting the various churches and the Forum. It creates a very aptly spiritual occasion and it's such a brilliant and favourite work."
Tickets range from £8 to £27, available on 01684 560696. Collections will be taken at each event for children's charities, including the NSPCC and Save the Children.
The ESO will also be at the Malvern Theatres for A Christmas Cracker on December 20, which includes a performance of Not the Twelve Days Of Christmas, an adaptation of the traditional carol. Joining them will be Desford Colliery Band and the ESO Youth Orchestra.
The concert starts at 6.30pm. Tickets are £7 children and £10 adults, on 01684 892277.
