SECOND-placed Colwall played Severn Division Two leaders Hereford II in a top-of-the-table clash at Hereford Sports Centre on Saturday.
HEREFORD II 1, COLWALL 1
Colwall started with ten players with one team member delayed in Christmas shopping traffic.
It was evident that the teams were evenly matched, and both had chances to score, but good play from both goalkeepers kept the score level at halftime.
In the second half, Colwall found life a little easier with 11 players on the pitch. However, it was Hereford who looked more likely to score, and only an excellent stop on the goal line by Colleen Rogers kept the score level.
Hereford finally broke through when a shot was saved by the keeper, and Hereford were quicker to react to the rebound.
Colwall came back strongly, and forced a short corner, from which Lucy Halligan scored with a well struck shot.
In a frenetic last few minutes, Hereford were awarded a succession of short corners, but Colwall's defence held firm to ensure that the points were shared.
Colwall's next Severn Division Two league match will be on January 10, away to Dursley.
