TOP scorer Steve Guinan is a doubt for Hereford United's Conference clash with Tamworth at Edgar Street tomorrow.

The in-form striker is carrying a shin injury but manager Graham Turner was optimistic he would be fit to take his place in the starting line-up.

Bristol Rovers loan signing Anwar Uddin will be included in the squad leaving a straight choice between him and Richard Teesdale to accompany Bulls' captain Tony James in central defence.

"We expect it to be a tough game," said Turner.

"We had difficulty breaking down Farnborough and we expect Tamworth to be similar and make life difficult for us too.

"But we go into the weekend on back of two home wins, full of confidence and refreshed after two weeks off.

"There is a danger when you've had a break that you can come back rusty but we won't know that till the game.

"Steve Guinan's problem has been with him for a while, he's been getting some pain in the lower knee, shin area but we are hoping he will be fit for Saturday."

Hereford, who beat Tamworth 3-1 on the opening day of the season, will bid to pull off their second league double of their campaign and more importantly keep them in touch with leaders Chester City who have a four point lead at the top of the table.

Tamworth boss Darron Gee has suspension and injury problems with latest acquisition Paul Barnes from Doncaster Rovers beginning a three-match ban.

Jason Blunt has a one-match ban while Marcus Ebdon could be sidelined for four to six weeks by knee ligament damage suffered in the first half of last weekend's defeat at Morecambe.

Gee admitted the Ebdon injury was a major blow, saying: "From the early prognosis it doesn't look good but we'll have a better idea when an assessment is done this week."

Scott Rickards is also included. The 22-year-old striker has been the subject of an undisclosed bid from Kidderminster Harriers.
