BUSY Worcester middleweight Harry Butler was a late replacement at the York Hall Bethnal Green last to provide an opponent for Bermondsey prospect Matthew Thirlwall.
Not surprisingly it was the Londoner who emerged victorious, referee Lee Cook scoring the contest 60-54 in his favour, a win which takes Thirlwall's record to 9-1.
Butler worked away to the body when given the chance, but when Thirlwall began to up the pace from the end of the third it was clear that there was to be no shock outcome to the contest.
The final couple of rounds saw Butler defending resolutely, but Thirlwall knew he had done more than enough to win.
