BUSINESSWOMAN Caroline Williams has been selected to fight the Leominster seat for the Liberal Democrats at the next General Election.
The constituency takes in Ledbury and Bromyard and is held by Conservative Bill Wiggin, who as just been appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Wales.
Mrs Williams was born and brought up in Leominster and now lives in Westhope with her husband and young child.
She said: "Leominster is a diverse seat with a enduring Liberal tradition where there is a great deal of community spirit and pride. However, our parliamentary representation leaves much to be desired."
Mrs Williams said her campaign would target concerns over the level of Council Tax bills and the need to provide more support for the National Health Service.
She also plans to speak out on behalf of the farming sector.
Mrs Williams said: "The farming community is an essential source of food, revenue and recreation, but it is in crises, especially at the level of the family farm."
Mrs Williams worked in sales and marketing with HR Smith in Kingsland and later with European Aviation in Ledbury. She is now a student barrister.
Constituency party chairman, Ned Abell said he was delighted to have such a strong candidate to lead the party's challenge for the Leominster constituency.
He said: "She's a dedicated campaigner with the time, energy and leadership we need to re-awaken liberalism in Leominster."
