A CHRISTMAS fair at Cradley's Royal British Legion Club raised a record-breaking amount for the village hall, which was damaged by fire at the end of September.
Numerous stalls, a tombola, raffle, and refreshments meant £1,511 was raised for the refurbishment and repair of the hall.
Organiser Judi Creed-Newton said a lot of quality goods were on sale and people had turned up from Cradley and further afield.
"I'm overwhelmed by the generosity of the village," she said. "We had a display of photos outside showing the fire damage and I think that tugged at a few people's heart strings."
She said the event would not have been a success without the support of people in Cradley. The money raised will go towards new staging for the hall.
Firefighters were called to the 16th-Century half-timbered hall in the early hours of September 28 when the roof was discovered to be ablaze.
