TOP of the Worcester Saturday Division One table Welland took time to get to grips with a spirited Koinonia team.
KOINONIA 1, WELLAND ATHLETIC 6
Tom Holland replaced the injured Steve Morris after ten minutes and although Welland's defence looked strong, the attack only got going when a beautiful through ball from Thackeray split the defence for Tom Crump to score easily after a clash between keeper and defender.
Another perfect cross from right back Will Radnor found Ben Nineham to head Welland's second after 30 minutes.
Ed Wray then converted from Tom Holland's cross to give Welland a 3-0 lead at half time.
Welland's keeper Scrivener picked out the speedy Tom Crump with a punt up field and he fired in from 25 yards.
James Forrester and Freddie Coles gave fresh legs to Welland but with one set piece, Koinonia retrieved a goal with a free kick.
Welland quickly asserted themselves as Derrington and Paul Edwards completed a 6-1 scoreline.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Welland, sponsored by Bio-Diagnostics, play an inter-squad friendly at the Hill, 2pm.
