OVER the years these teams have been involved in some excellent matches; unfortunately this wasn't one of them.
MALVERN RADAR 1, ST JOHNS 1
Both teams struggled to create goal-scoring chances and although the visitors almost snatched victory late on, a point a piece was about right.
Radar took the lead on 15 minutes when a great diagonal ball from Clive Churchill sent Tony Bishop clear and, as Saints keeper Kev Ingram advanced, Bishop lobbed the ball into the net.
In a repeat performance a few minutes later, Ingram was pleased to see the ball bounce just past the post to safety.
The second half was rather drab with St Johns probably having the better of things. Radar keeper Chris Ball pulled off a smart save from Ben Mottram following a mis-hit goal kick, but he could do nothing to stop Steve Sheen's close range effort following slick work from Mottram down the left wing.
Radar's Darren Loader then headed over the bar from Gary Harman's corner and the same player volleyed just too high in spectacular fashion.
Saints almost won the game late on when Paul Dobson's free kick was just reached by Ball and in the ensuing scramble Darren Baker was on hand to clear to safety.
This Sunday Radar are at home to AFC Mazak, meet Victoria Park 9.45am.
