ON November 27 I decided to use public transport to visit Worcester Fayre.

I arrived at the Morgan Works bus stop three minutes before the bus due at 15.35.

As I was standing at the edge of the kerb sorting out some change for the fare, the No 44 service arrived at too excessive speed to stop and almost empty.

I was tempted to walk the quarter mile home and get the car out but decided to catch the next bus after walking a mile to the A449 Worcester Road.

It was 26 years ago when I last used the local bus service, when due to a severe dorsal disc injury I couldn't drive. I always use my own car and after this shoddy service will continue to resort to my own private transport in future because First Midland Red is 'Last Midland Red' so far as I am concerned, making the car a necessity not a luxury.

In an age when the Government is trying to prise the motorist out of his car and onto public transport - some encouragement.

So there you have it folks, fly Midland Red, if you can catch one.
