A LEDBURY hairdresser, who has travelled all over the world is staging an exhibition of paintings at a Bishop's Frome gallery.

Tim Marshall works at Marshall Hairworks, in The Homend, but is also an abstract painter, influenced by six years of living in Bermuda and time spent living and working in Australia and northern Spain.

He is exhibiting at the Green Stage gallery, which is part of the new development of buildings housing local traders and craftsmen at the Hop Pocket craft centre in Bishop's Frome.

He said the 13 canvasses on display were painted in a very individual style and cover nine years of work. A self-portrait is Mr Marshall's favourite piece.

Although hairdressing is a creative art form, he feels music is a greater inspiration, particularly World Music.

"When I was in Bermuda I studied music - percussion and drums - and music with more of a Latin flavour influences me," he said.

The Aborigines of Australia and the architecture and history of northern Spain have also inspired Mr Marshall, who has sold his work all over the world.

A launch evening for the Green Stage gallery was held yesterday (Thursday).

The exibition runs until the end of January. The gallery is open until Christmas Eve, from 10am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday.

In January the opening hours change. For details, call the Hop Pocket on 01531 640323.
