ON Tuesday, December 9, Longdon Leapfrogs Playgroup, together with the reception class from Longdon St Mary's School, came to St Mary's Church for their annual Christmas service. Some simple Christmas songs were sung, accompanied by Edward Lane on the piano, with the children playing their own musical instruments. The Christmas story was told, illustrated by pictures, and the children received a small Christmas treat at the end.

Longdon Church Choir will be taking part in a Christmas concert in St Peter's Church, Bushley, on Saturday, December 13, at 7pm. The programme will include song, choral items, instrumental solos, congregational carols, and readings. Tickets will be available on the door, price £5 for adults and £1 for children and including sherry/wine and mince pies during the interval.

Also on Saturday, December 13, Outer Limits, the benefice youth group, will be meeting at Strikes, Malvern, for a bowling session followed by a Christmas party and games at Longdon Vicarage. On Sunday, December 14, Bridge Builders, the benefice Sunday School, will be having its Christmas party in Longdon Vicarage from 3pm to 5pm.

The choir will be rehearsing in St Mary's Church on Monday, December 15, at 6.30pm (children) and 7pm (adults). New members are always welcome and enquiries should be made to the choir mistress, Wendy Thompson, via Longdon Vicarage 01684 833256.

On Sunday, December 21, St Mary's Church will be holding its annual carols-by-candlelight service at 6.30pm. The service will include traditional congregational carols and nine Bible readings together with carols sung by Longdon Junior and Senior choirs.

Longdon School will hold its annual Christmas party on Wednesday, December 17. It will include a hot meal for all the children.
