TRIBUTE was paid to a long-serving committee member of over 30 years on the resignation of Mrs Molly Barratt at the annual general meeting of Redmarley Village Hall when she was thanked for all her years of service and support as an active member of the committee.

Mr Graham Baum was also thanked for his work as caretaker treasurer over the past two years, stepping in at short notice until a permanent treasurer could be found.

The Auction of Promises had raised £1,300 and thanks were given to everyone who had helped and supported the event. Thanks were also given to Upton Motosports for their generous donation of £100 for the village hall.

A SERVICE of carols by candlelight will be held on Sunday, December 14, in Staunton Parish Church at 6.30pm. All are welcome.

Nearly 70 people celebrated the festive season at Staunton Christmas Cracker, held in The Barn at Gadfield Elm House.

Guests were welcomed with a delicious hot toddy on arrival in the gaily-decorated setting in candlelight. A delicious four-course dinner was served by members of the PCC and the evening ended with a quiz. The evening was organised by Audrey Smith, Prim Goldring and June Fardon with great help from Jane Evans, Jenifer and John Clayton and members of Staunton PCC and friends. The PCC wishes to express its sincere thanks to Canon and Mrs John Evans and all those who supported this very popular annual event. Proceeds are for Staunton Church funds.

Winners at the October draw for Corse & Staunton 100 Club were 1 Mrs N Tattersall, 2 Mr R Cook, 3 Mrs J Freeman, 4 Mrs J Cleeve. Winners in the November draw were 1. Mrs G Kimpton, 2 Mr T Bradford, 3 Mrs Claessen, 4 Mr C Broomfield.
