ON Saturday, December 6, a very enjoyable super was held in Upleadon Village Hall. The hall had been superbly decorated for the festive season. The supper tables all had festive arrangements on them. Christmas crackers were much in evidence. Guests sat down to a selection of hot casseroles accompanied by vegetables. There followed a variety of puddings, cheese and biscuits. Wine and soft drinks were served with the meal. To end there was coffee and mince pies. Complimentary comments are circulating such as "It was a very good evening indeed" and "It was a great success". Mr Ross Woolfrey, village hall chairman, thanked all who had helped in any way with the evening. Proceeds are for hall funds.
On Sunday, December 7 the service at St Mary the Virgin Church, Upleadon, was Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion. The celebrant was Reverend Pat Phillips, the Rector. Mrs Jessie Williams read the epistle and the gospel. Mr John Slack was the sidesman. Both churchwardens were in attendance. Next Sunday the service in Upleadon Church is evening prayer at 6pm.
