I was appalled, but not surprised, to see that our local police "commander", Inspector Eric Moore blames the increasing crime and vandalism in Moreton on the fact that we do not use the park enough! (Page 3, November 20th.).
It is typical of many police forces nowadays who, bereft of any ideas whatsoever to reverse their rapidly declining productivity, try to find someone else to blame for their own problems.
Let's get it clear, Inspector Moore:
1. You are paid a fortune from both national and local rates to protect the community and its property.
2. You know where and when the vandalism in Moreton takes place.
3. You choose not to do anything about it.
4. You have only one person to blame.
I have only had cause to visit the police station once. Officers were standing inside drinking tea, but the note on the door said that the station was closed and that I must go elsewhere!
Otherwise, except for the one occasion when I saw an officer operating a hand held speed gun on the London Road, I have only ever seen the police when they are doing their shopping in Budgens or buying their bacon baps and burgers at Ali's van (and even that isn't in the town). No doubt you see the officers frequently, sitting in your office.
I have written to this paper in the past about the declining productivity of the police and the spiralling costs that they are imposing on us. I asked for an answer. I never received one from Inspector Moore, nor from any of his colleagues. I wonder why?
