A PAIR of poachers from Worcester were sent to prison from the County Petty Sessions Court this week exactly a century ago.
The Journal of 1903 reported the case under the heading "Old Poachers".
"John Williams of Dolday and William Compton, labourer, of Tybridge Street, were charged with being found on land at Alfrick, in the occupation of James Pullen, in pursuit of game.
"Pol Sgt Griffin said that at about one in the morning he was with Pol Cons Bowcott and Mr Pullen when they saw the defendants in a field placing nets. Defendants ran away, but were captured."
