South Warwickshire Association
THE Association travelled to Oxford IBC last Sunday when the Oxfordshire VPs Association were the day's hosts.
It proved a closely contested affair with the home side winning by 17 shots.
Oxon led 33-25 after five hands but the visitors hit back to draw level at 56 apiece five ends later.
After 15 ends South Warwickshire led 81-80 only for the hosts to raise their game and prise out a 118-101 victory.
Gerald Rushby and Don Keen skipped the two winning rinks for visiting side as both recorded 19-13 wins. Overall, though, Keen's rink took the honours by winning 13 ends compared to his colleague's 11.
Rink scores: Eric Heath, Bob Taylor, Les Boulton, Keith Francis lost 27-18. Peter Churchley, Ray Bethell, Mike Deakins, Nigel Undery lost 22-10. David Williams, Ken Bloxham, Clive Andrew, Gerald Rushby won 19-13. Colin Moffatt, Ted Poole, Mark Hancock, Don Keen won 19-13. Percy Rickells, Keith Ogilvie, Geoff Sweet lost 19-18. Mike Solomon, Vernon Aldridge, Bob Henry, Brian Bennett lost 24-17.
The Association's next fixture is on Sunday, January 4 when the Worcestershire VPs visit Welford.
