1803: On Monday last, the Worcestershire Regiment of Militia was inspected at Portsmouth by Major-General Whitelock who observed that he thought them the best militia regiment in the kingdom and a pattern to all.

Alfred Freeman (17) of Norton Barracks, a drummer in the Worcestershire Regiment, was charged at the City Police Court with being drunk and disorderly in Friar Street and with assaulting Police Constable Jauncey. Prisoner kicked and punched the officer while he was trying to handcuff him. Freeman had been up five times before and was sent down for 21 days.
