TWO centuries ago this week, the Journal heralded the latest productions at the Theatre Royal in Angel Street.
"From next week, the Comedy of False Pretences and the grand serious pantomime of Don Juan will be presented in a most magnificent and splendid style at our Theatre."
On a more sombre note, the same 1803 edition reported that: "On Thursday last, the remains of the late Earl of Powis were brought into this city in great funeral pomp, and laid in state at the Crown Inn, Broad Street, until the following morning when the procession continued on its route to the family seat in Shropshire."
