ATTACKING midfielder Ronnie Sayer is close to becoming Stourport Swifts' second signing of the close season.
Sayer, released by Conference club Telford at the end of the last campaign, has agreed terms with boss Dave Titterton and just has to finalise his move.
Titterton is also waiting on an answer on a new striker with an eye for goal but is delighted with his swoop for the midfield man.
Sayer, 20, played seven games for Telford last season and scored in a 3-1 victory at Doncaster.
The Swifts manager said: "Ronnie is someone I've been tracking for a long time.
"He's an attack-minded midfielder who gets into the box and scores goals. He's someone to unlock the door which is something I feel we've been missing.
"Ronnie can be a massive part of our squad in an area we needed to strengthen all last season.
"We are attracting good players who have something to prove after playing at a lower level or who have already proved themselves at this standard.
"I need to sell the club and myself to them but it's a great set-up here. I've got to thank the chairman Chris Reynolds and John McDonald who have been superb and backed me 100 per cent."
The proposed pre-season friendly with Burton will now be played later in the campaign as Swifts' opponents are involved in a tournament.
Pre-season fixtures: Bromyard (a) July 19, Studley (h) July 23, Westfields (h) July 29, Bilston (a) August 2, Stourbridge (h) August 5, Worcester (h) August 11.
