DAVE Titterton is set to add to his Stourport Swifts summer shop with the capture of a goalkeeper and a midfielder before the weekend.

Ilkeston keeper Lee Evans and Studley skipper Mark Beddowes are both expected to join the Swifts ranks.

Wing-back Mark Jones and attacking midfielder Ronnie Sayer have already linked up from Stourbridge and Telford respectively, while utility man Willie Dunn has returned to Walshes Meadow after injury.

Titterton has also put offers to two lethal striking targets in Stourport-based Richard Burgess and Midland Alliance golden boot winner James Wood.

Ex-Aston Villa youngster Burgess, a proven scorer in the Dr Martens Western Division, has turned down an approach from Redditch but is considering staying with current club Bromsgrove.

The Swifts boss is also having talks with Wood who bagged 34 goals for Oldbury last season.

Titterton said: "Richard says it's between us and Bromsgrove. He's gone away on holiday for two weeks and said he would give me an answer after then.

"But I've said I can't wait for two weeks and I will pursue my other interests."

The move for free agent Evans, a player Titterton tried to sign on loan last season, is due to be completed.

The 6ft 2ins 21-year-old keeper, who made one Conference appearance for Hereford in 2001, will provide competition for Rob Clarke.

Titterton admitted: "Lee's not the finished article by any means but this will be a good opportunity for him. He's got a lot of potential and just needs regular games."

As for Beddowes, Swifts are confident of securing the defensive midfielder whose past efforts to impress at Western Division level have been curtailed by injury.

He counts Sutton Coldfield, Solihull, Evesham and Oldbury among his former clubs as well as spending a season-and-a-half at Alliance side Studley.

Titterton added: "Mark's experienced but every time he's come to this standard, which I believe he's more than capable of playing at, he's had no luck with injuries.

"He's had a good couple of seasons away from injuries and I think he's ready to rock and roll."

Meanwhile, Swifts will face old rivals Redditch at home in the Dr Martens League Cup first round.
