TWO animal-loving musicians from Kidderminster are organising a marathon guitar-playing session to raise money to help cats and dogs have a good Christmas.

Mike Smith and Kerry White, who run Muzos music shop in George Street, are organising the guitarathon to raise money for the Celia Hammond Animal Trust.

The pair are no strangers to raising money for animals as last year they helped Hagley Falconry Centre create a new hospital for injured hawks and the year before a badger group in Somerset benefited.

This year they want to help the Celia Hammond Trust run by the dedicated Addy Chadwick of Bewdley.

The trust is desperately looking for new foster homes for animals and also for a home for three German Shepherd cross puppies.

Mrs Chadwick said: "We did have around nine foster homes but now we only have two as people have moved away.

"If we do not get some more homes we will not be able to take in any more cats and dogs which is a great shame at Christmas time."

No less than 65 of Mike and Kerry's guitar and bass students will be playing their socks off at the event to try to raise £2,000 to bring a cash boost to the trust.

Each student will play a song at the event at Stourport Boat Club.

Mike said: "This is no mean feat as they are all relatively new students.

"They are all keen to help raise some money for the trust.

"Addy Chadwick is doing a marvellous job for animals and deserves the support. "

Although the event on Saturday December 20 is only open to relatives and friends of players, people can help the Celia Hammond Animal Trust by either sponsoring one of the musicians or dropping off tins of cat and dog food at the Muzos shop.

Anyone who wants to adopt a puppy or foster an animal can contact Mrs Chadwick through Muzos.
