STARRING real-life husband and wife duo Ben Lyon and Bebe Daniels, Life With The Lyons was one of the BBC's most popular sit-coms of the 1950s, a massive hit on radio which later transferred to television.
They were the family that found a place in everyone's hearts.
Along with their two children Richard and Barbara, Ben and Bebe somehow managed to extricate themselves from any number of scrapes.
In this video, the Lyons are moving into a luxurious new family home in London, but, as you'd expect, nothing goes smoothly. After series of disasters, Mr Hemingway, their new landlord, becomes so nervous he refuses to sign the lease.
Rather than give up, the Lyons try to convince him that they are a normal, everyday family after all. Some hope!
This is a wonderful slice of 1950s nostalgia. Even after all these years, it is easy to see how the first TV generation took these people to their hearts. Great stuff.
