A LEADING Kidderminster councillor is to appear live on TV to argue the case for independent politics against a top Tory.
Howard Martin, leader of the Health Concern party, will be on Sunday's edition of The Politics Show on BBC2 to speak about the power of the independents at local level.
He will face Chris Heaton-Harris, MEP for the East Midlands.
Mr Martin - who represents Franche on Wyre Forest District Council and is also a county councillor for Hoobrook - said: "I will say there is a case for independent politics and you can see it working in Kidderminster and Wyre Forest.
"I don't believe there is a need for party politics in local government. Politics can work very well without the dogma and control of central party politics. Independent politicians' responsibility is to the people they represent and not the party they represent. I will be talking about examples of that."
The show is broadcast at 12.30pm.
