NEW striker Mark Jones goes straight into Stourport Swifts' squad in the Dr Martens Western Division on Saturday.

The ex-Wolves, Hednesford and Stafford player, back from a knee operation, is likely to start on the bench at Yate.

Willie Dunn (hamstring) is a doubt for Swifts, who have won three in a row, but Rob Taylor, with a long-running hernia problem, and John Cotterill should return from injury.

Swifts boss Dave Titterton admitted: "Mark's probably not ready for a start right now but he's got a lot of talent."

Walsall-born Jones, 24, played three times for Wolves before being released in 2000 and also made three loan appearances for Cheltenham in Division Three.

Midfielder Richard Kavanagh inspired Swifts to their 2-0 win over high-flying Solihull on Saturday, though hot-shot Richard Ball scored twice.

Titterton said: "These two have obviously been very influential but then so were the other members of the squad against Solihull.

"Richard's on fire at the moment and everything he seems to touch is going in the top or bottom corner or wherever the keeper isn't!

"But we cannot rely on him personally to score the goals so I've asked the other players to chip in as well."

Swifts beat Yate 2-0 on the first day of the season but they are a tougher prospect now, warned Titterton.

The former Hereford player said: "They were pretty poor in our first game but have brought in five or six very good players since then and their results have picked up.

"We've had three hard-fought home victories in a row and I will be looking for another one at Yate.

"We're getting players back fit from injury and are looking a different proposition now."

Swifts entertain Gloucester in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm).
