I AM writing in response to the article entitled "Vandals face £20,000 fines" in the November 27 issue of the Shuttle/Times and News.

The motorcyclists are not only causing major damage on the area known as Devil's Spittleful on Kidderminster's Rifle Range reserve, they are also a big concern for us horse riders.

Quite often on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon myself and friends go for a hack over the range. However, nine times out of 10 we are confronted by idiots doing anything from 30mph to 70mph, racing up and down sand-rounds they have made, or racing around the tracks we would normally be cantering or trotting down, but can no longer use.

I have come off my horse twice over the last four months because of the sheer ignorance of these people. We shout at these grown men to stop and they just carry on revving their bikes.

I have reported this to the police two or three times, but no-one does anything. Has someone got to be killed or seriously injured before something is done?

They are now also starting to use the land-fill site at the top of the Kingsway, just before you get onto Burlish Top. There were about 20 bikes racing around on Sunday, November 30.

My friend and I ended up walking with our horses, it was that frightening.

I am quite sure there are other horse-riders out there who feel the same way as us. I wear all the correct riding gear - hard hat, body protector, fluorescent jacket etc - to be safe and seen, but what good is it over there, when the idiots don't take any notice anyway?

One day there will be an accident and someone will be killed. People also go there for a walk with their dogs, and it is not safe.
