VOLLEYBALL: Cleobury Mortimer made it nine games unbeaten with a 3-2 victory at Devon Ladies to put them top of National League Division Two.
Eva Mort served well for starters and although Devon fought back, coach Carl Brookes played an excellent time-out at 19-20 down.
It was just enough to break the home side's concentration as Ellie Boddey took Cleobury to set point which Clare Jones sealed 25-22.
Despite good attacking play from Ellie White, Cleobury showed a few signs of fatigue in dropping the second set 25-22.
But Boddey continued her serving success to open another huge lead in the third set which they held 25-18.
The game then switched to Devon though as Cleobury relaxed too much and surrendered the fourth 25-14.
But the fifth-set specialists bounced back to win the tie break 15-7 as Boddey's reverse hit found the line.
Temporary captain White was player-of-the-match for an outstanding back and front court performance.
Struggling Malmesbury nearly inflicted a shock defeat on Cleobury the day before but they held out for a 3-2 away victory, despite dropping the first two sets 27-25 and 25-22.
But the home side began to wither under the Cleobury attack as they forced the next two sets 25-15 and 25-14.
In the tie break, they remained professional to take the match 15-13.
