A CITY motorist ended up in a fight after a pedestrian made abusive hand gestures at him, Worcester Magistrates heard.

Christopher Eastland stepped out of his car and had a scuffle with the man, Worcester magistrates were told.

Eastland, aged 29, of Gamekeepers Drive, Brickfields, yesterday admitted using threatening or abusive language or behaviour, failing to surrender to bail, cultivating cannabis, receiving stolen goods and possessing cannabis.

Prosecuting, Helen Harmeston said police in Worcester city centre saw Eastland in a car shouting at another man.

Eastland said he had been assaulted by the man, who then claimed the defendant hit him.

Eastland said that while at the traffic lights, a man walked in front of his car, shouted at him and made abusive gestures.

Lost the plot

He said the man punched him in the face. He became angry and, in his words, lost the plot, added Mrs Harmeston.

Police who searched Eastland's home and found two stolen amplifiers and a speaker, a cannabis plant and 98 grams of cannabis resin

Barry Newton, defending, said: "There was a search in connection with the speakers and it's right to say he proffered the resin and the cannabis plant.

Eastland was given a 12-month community rehabilitation order for receiving stolen goods, fined £50 for possession of cannabis and £50 for cultivating cannabis.

He was fined £100 for using threatening abusive language or behaviour and ordered to pay £86 costs.
