When police sergeant H Wensley, of Redditch, retires at the end of this month, he will have completed 29 years' service with Worcestershire Constabulary.
He retires officially on December 31st and on the following day he takes up his new appointment as full-time Civil Defence Officer for the Redditch Urban District.
He joined Worcestershire Constabulary in 1925 and was stationed at Evesham, Worcester, Claines and Fernhill Heath before being promoted to sergeant in 1945, when he was transferred to Redditch.
Mr Wensley, who is 50 years of age, lives at 3 Vicarage View, Redditch.
He is married and has one married daughter.
