BUSINESSES in Worcestershire should benefit from the new M6 toll road, which opened yesterday, according to a leading business organisation.

The Confederation of West Midlands Chambers of Commerce, which represents the Chamber of Commerce, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said the new road was "nothing but good news" for the business community.

"There cannot be any business person in a car who wouldn't pay £2 to guarantee avoiding the crippling bottleneck around Birmingham," said Richard Bindless, regional policy director.

"Time stuck on a motorway is dead time and it has cost the region's economy millions of pounds.

"While there is a cost to using the M6 toll, drivers will make up most of that in fuel savings by not being stuck in a queue for an hour or longer!"
