THE developers of the Abbey Stadium have taken their assessment of the traffic on the A441 and decided that a bypass is not necessary and all the road problems will be solved by a set of traffic lights on the Sainsbury's island (Advertiser, December 3).
What arrogance!
We were told right from the start that if the development went ahead it would be on condition that the dual carriageway was put in to take the extra traffic.
At times it is impossible to get out of our drives because of bumper-to-bumper, stop-start traffic.
Knock on the doors of the people who live on the A441 and ask them what they think of the situation.
When the developers have done their worst they will walk away from the situation but we will have to live with it.
When there is an accident on the M42 or road works, the traffic comes off at exit 2 and makes its way along the A441 to exit 1. We also have this to contend with.
Lord Plymouth gave the land to Redditch for the recreational use of its people and the land was not to be built on.
How then can planning permission be given for this project?
