THE mother of a two-year-old Redditch girl who died from 'flu has spoken movingly about her tomboy daughter who was happiest playing with cars.

Tamzin Griffith's funeral took place at Redditch Crematorium on Friday. She was buried with her favourite blanket she took with her everywhere.

Her mum, Helen, 23, said she searched last week for a dress to bury Tamzin in but decided a hooded top, a pair of baggies and trainers was far more suitable for her little girl.

"Tamzin was such a tomboy. She never wore dresses, she just didn't look right in them. She was into everything and I think she went through the terrible two stage when she was one," she said.

Mrs Griffiths, who has another daughter, four-year-old Jade, said Tamzin didn't like dolls and was always playing with cars or looking at books.

She said: "It was really difficult telling Jade about Tamzin so we said her sister had become a star in the sky.

"So every night Jade goes out and when she sees a star she says it's Tamzin."

Mrs Griffiths, of Lakeside, said Tamzin, who was staying with her grandparents, suddenly began to go "groggy" on the evening of Saturday, November 22, after earlier playing as normal.

Tamzin died the following morning.

Three-year-old Tamara Whitty, from Warndon, Worcester, died from suspected Fujian 'flu on Friday, November 28.
