A POWERFUL display from 17-year-old Michael Pardoe concluded an entertaining evening of amateur boxing by Droitwich Amateur Boxing Club.

A packed crowd saw ten hard-fought contests at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club last Friday although bouts involving Matt Greening, Alex Strutt, Pat Griffin and Adam Mytton were called off to flu and injury.

Pardoe proved too strong for Shotton's Thomas Doran, winning with a second round stoppage.

His victory ensured a double for Droitwich boxers over the Welsh club as, in the best bout of the night, Anthony Bonehill, aged 17, out-pointed Paul Economides.

Marc Bonehill, aged 16, was unlucky to drop a split points decision to Welsh champion Paul Davies. Sean Donnelly, aged 14, was also seemed unfortunate to drop a points decision to Michael Sadler of Oxford.

Thirteen-year-old Michael Mongan got the show off to a good start with a decisive win over Steve Davies.

Will Evans, aged 15, put up a spirited display before dropping a close points decision to John Murphy. Robin McDermott and Matthew Lewis also lost.
