UKIP constantly complains of the danger of takeover of this country by Europe, while ignoring the very real point that emanates from USA.

British foreign policy is dictated by America, while the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the games we play, are all influenced from across the Atlantic.

However from dangers without, let us turn to dangers within. Presumably a party that calls itself the United Kingdom Independence Party is concerned that the sovereign state called United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland remains an integrated whole.

However SNP, Plaid Cymru and Mebion Kernow call for the independence of Scotland, Wales and Cornwall.

Of course Scotland and Wales are already autonomous.

If Scotland becomes an independent state, the north-east of England (i.e. Tyne/Wear), which has more affinity with Scotland than England, will probably join the Scots.

Furthermore, a sovereign Wales will demand that the Severn from Shrewsbury to the Bristol Channel becomes the frontier. Worcester will become a divided city.

Also we should bear in mind that the birth rate among Catholics in the Six Counties is higher than that among Protestants. Thus it seems to be only a matter of time before the north-east of the Emerald Isle reunites with the Republic.

It's strange that we have never heard any pronouncements from UKIP regarding the likely political fragmentation of the UK. Come on, Mr Chamings and Co - let's be hearing from you concerning these very serious matters.

What is your policy?

D E MARGRETT, Worcester.
