Feckenham 6

Meir KA 3

FECKENHAM boss Lee Adams was full of praise for his 'assist men' after his side's dramatic Challenge Cup victory.

Veteran striker Steve Ferguson grabbed five goals - including an extra-time hat-trick - but Adams believed that the unsung work of Lee Brosnan and Brian Powell were pivotal to his side's famous victory.

"I can't praise these two enough really," revealed Adams. "Lee went and got himself sent off three games ago after getting in trouble with the referee.

"As a punishment, I dropped him from the team but his attitude in training and around the club since then has been excellent.

"I recalled him to the side on Saturday and he was involved in everything and, along with Brian, helped us win the match. They both set up crucial goals for us."

Ferguson cancelled out an early Meir penalty given when Chris White hacked down his opponent inside the box.

Ferguson grabbed another but Meir caught The Millers on the break and fired home two quick goals.

Adams pushed three men up front and, with Meir under the cosh, Stuart Douglas fired home a glorious equaliser by chipping the 'keeper from 20 yards to take the game into extra time at 3-3.

Feckenham went into overdrive in extra time by completely dominating proceedings.

Brosnan continued to have a huge influence on the match as Powell set up Ferguson who knocked in a further two before the final whistle.

"I'm glad that the game went to extra-time," added Adams. "If we had won 4-3 in normal time, it wouldn't have told the story because we murdered them."

Adams now loses Brosnan for five games, starting with the trip to Coleshill this Saturday, following his misdemeanour with Gary Beedling.
