NICK Frizzell scored a late penalty flick to give Bromsgrove Hockey Club Men's First XI a 3-2 home victory against Barlaston.
Last Saturday's result leaves Julian Court's side in clear second place in West Midlands division one with one game left at third place Evesham before the Christmas break.
The captain said: "We were very lucky to get three points, they played some decent stuff. Hopefully it's a wake-up call."
Court is now hoping his side can finish off the year with three points to set them up nicely for the new year.
Clive Robinson gave Bromsgrove the lead against Barlaston but the visitors were level at half time. They then took the lead against the run of play early after the break.
Mark Robinson, who came on as a substitute, then hit the post before making it 2-2. He was also at the centre of his side's winner as he proceeded to have two penalty flicks saved when the goalkeeper was adjudged to have moved. Frizzell stepped up to take the third and scored.
