THE sounds of Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin and Elvis Presley will fill Worcester's High Street as users of a centre for the homeless hold a fund-raising busking session.

Three people from Maggs Day Centre, on Deansway, Worcester will be joined by centre staff Mel Kirk, Brian Hanley and Ray Mylton for the three-hour session, on Saturday.

No venue has been fixed for the performance as yet, but it is hoped it will take place outside the Guildhall at noon.

Mr Mylton has been running weekly music lessons at the centre since it launched an appeal for instruments in July, and the busking session is the first event the aspiring musicians have performed in.

The organisers hope to raise more than £100 through the day, which will be ploughed back into the centre for its music lessons.

"I'm quite pleased that it's going ahead and I'm looking forward to it," said Mel Kirk, volunteer co-ordinator.

"It's nice we've finally got to the stage that we can send our clients out and do something like this which will be good confidence-building."

Dozens of instruments were donated to the centre in its appeal - from bongos and guitars to a piano and penny whistles.
