AN angry Spa resident has hit out at dustmen who she claims regularly leave her street piled high with household rubbish.

Elizabeth Griffiths of Paddock Way is furious at the dustmen who collect in her area. She claims they regularly stack 20 or more bin bags outside her house blocking the route for pedestrians, people on electrical scooters and mums with pushchairs.

Elizabeth is also angry at the amount of stray litter, including dirty nappies, cat food tins and tampons left behind when the bags split outside her house.

She told the Advertiser last Thursday: "When I first moved to this area, I was very impressed with how clean and tidy it was and litter never used to be a problem until the beginning of this year.

"Now when bags are split, we find litter strewn on the pavements which is not cleaned up and I live on a bank so when the wind blows I find this litter outside my front door. It's disgusting.

"It's also a matter of health and safety, these bin bags are blocking the pavements and people are having to leave the pavement to get back on again because of the amount of bags that are piled on them."

The Spa resident who has had a long-running battle with the dustmen reached the end of her tether in June this year. She has been in regular contact with Wychavon District Council to ask their dustmen employed through contractors Fosker to clean up their rubbish.

Elizabeth added: "I'm constantly in contact with Wychavon District Council. When we call, they send someone out to collect the rubbish but it's become a regular occurrence and I have to ring two or three times a month. I just feel like we are not being given an effective service."

A Wychavon District Council spokesman said: "The problem has now been resolved and Mrs Griffiths was made aware of this on Wednesday."
