Coventry Saracens 17

Alcester 13

For the third time in a month, Alcester returned from Coventry empty handed.

They followed up recent losses at Stoke Old Boys and Pinley with defeat at the first hurdle of the Shield competition, against a Saracens side who operate a division below them in the league structure.

Alcester made four personnel and a further four positional changes for the game including being forced to start without a recognised no 8, although Mark Kilbride stood in well for his first senior side start in three seasons after surgery to rebuild his cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Tries and penalties were accredited to Matt Qwynn, and John Dover and Alcester lock Andy Taylor was sent off. Alcester's next game is on November 29th, with the visit of unbeaten leaders Manor Park.
