MISSED chances again cost Stourport Swifts dearly as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Swindon Supermarine in the Dr Martens Western Division.

Swifts, warming up for Tuesday's clash with county rivals Bromsgrove, had to settle for a point despite having the pick of the opportunities on Saturday.

Rob Taylor struck his fourth goal in three games to cap another man-of-the-match display but the result means Swifts are still teetering on the edge of the relegation zone.

Striker Taylor opened the scoring 10 minutes before the break, taking advantage of sloppy defending to curl a low drive past the advancing keeper.

But hopes of Stourport building on the teenager's goal were soon cut short as the visitors were on level terms a minute later.

A Swindon player went over in the box, the referee awarded a penalty and Giles Harris drilled the spot kick past the helpless Ryan Price.

Mark Jones had seen a 25-yard free-kick tipped over the bar by the Swindon keeper on the half-hour mark.

And Taylor should have restored Stourport's advantage just before the break, collecting a Kerry Giddings pass only to push his effort the wrong side of the far post.

Giddings failed to capitalise on a chance 11 minutes into the second period, shooting wide.

The impressive Ronnie Sayer also missed out as he broke clean through only to miss the target with just the keeper to beat.
