WITH reference to your article on page two of the Malvern Gazette (October 3) 'Is neglected site the worst in the UK?', which we read with some degree of amusement.
The empty and derelict site in Lower Howsell Road has only been such since the Trustees of Madresfield Estate bought, and subsequently demolished, the Carpenter's Arms in order to open up access to the old allotment land.
As many will know the estate has, for a number of years, wanted to develop this larger site without success.
The fact the Carpenter's Arms is a space worthy of inclusion in a national campaign must be of some embarrassment to the estate, which created it and then allowed it to deteriorate!
CHRIS BURGER, BRIAN WATKINS and TOM WARING, Lower Howsell old allotment site watch committee.
