A NEW voice coach will guide a group of young singers into two prestigious lunch-time concerts.

Ula Webber has taken up the baton from Luise Horrocks with Wyre Forest Young Voices, the youth choir of Kidderminster Choral Society.

Members will sing a selection of music including spirituals, church music, folk songs as well as performing solos and duets at Bath Abbey and Wells Cathedral on Tuesday, October 29 and the following day respectively.

They will be joined at Wells Cathedral by former member Annabell Jones, now a chorister at the venue.

New voice coach Ula is a soprano in Ex Cathedra, the leading professional choir in the Midlands. She hails from Poland - and group musical director Geoffrey Weaver said her contacts in her home land would help plan the Young Voices' visit there next year.

An accomplished pianist, violinist and singer, Ula grew up in Yorkshire, gaining an honours music degree at the University of Hull. She is music co-ordinator at the Uplands Manor Primary School in Sandwell.

The choir welcomes new members between 10 and 19. Mr Weaver conducts rehearsals at Baxter Church Hall in Kidderminster's Bull Ring between 5pm and 6.45pm on Thursdays.
