Pershore 18pts, Keresley 10

SATURDAY provided a welcome victory for a Pershore side again stripped of several first choice players due to an injury crisis.

They put in a dogged performance and controlled the game for the majority of the match but a few lapses of concentration let the visitors back into the game.

Pershore started well, camping into the Keresley half for long periods, but their only score came from a James Martin penalty.

The pressure on Keresley had to earn reward and, after a marvellous break by Martin and two quick rucks, Andy Watson picked up and stormed over. Martin converted.

Keresley, however, responded admirably, taking the game to Pershore and after a storming run they exploited a gap on the blindside to score.

The second half was a strange affair with Pershore having the lion's share of possession but Keresley were still in contention.

Pershore's build-up play was excellent, while scrums, line-outs and rucking was also top-class. However, their final pass decision making was poor - a fault that failed to see them record a far more convincing margin of victory.

The score that settled the match came following Adrian Hanson's break, supported by the ever willing Watson, who popped the ball to Sid Hirons who touched down.

Martin again added the extra points before slotting over another penalty to seal the game.

Keresley scored an unconverted try on the stroke of full time but it was too late to affect the result.

Pershore's next league match is at Ledbury on Saturday, Oct-ober 25.
